Summer Semester 2026 – Limited to 3–6 Months
In gas flows, varying inlet conditions can lead to turbulent flow patterns that negatively affect the measurement accuracy of flow sensors. The objective of this internship or thesis project is to systematically investigate the impact of different flow straighteners on measurement accuracy.
YOUR TASKS:
-
Familiarize yourself with the topics of flow turbulence, flow straighteners, and measurement accuracy through literature research
-
Develop various conceptual approaches for flow straighteners
-
Evaluate the concepts using flow simulations (CFD)
-
Build prototypes of the most promising concepts
-
Perform experimental validation and analyze the impact on measurement accuracy
YOUR PROFILE:
-
Degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field
-
Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics
-
Ideally, experience with CFD simulations (e.g. OpenFOAM)
