Winter semester 2026/2027 – fixed term of 3 months
YOUR TASKS:
- Independently familiarize yourself with the state of the art in the measurement of optical components
- Plan, carry out, optimize, and document replication processes (negative impressions) of optical components
- Perform metrological analysis of the replicas, e.g., using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM)
- Compare and evaluate original and replicated measurements in terms of accuracy, resolution, and reproducibility
- Investigate influencing factors such as material properties, structure sizes, and surface roughness
- Assess the limitations and potential of the method for different optical components
- Analyze, present, and document results in a structured manner
YOUR PROFILE:
- Enrolled in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Process Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Physics, or a comparable scientific or engineering field
- Interest in experimental laboratory work
- Basic understanding of measurement and analysis methods, with an interest in optical metrology
- Careful, structured, and independent way of working
- Strong analytical thinking skills
- Good command of English
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Open-minded and reliable personality
