Job Description
Thesis: AI-Supported UI Development for Sensor Applications

Summer Semester 2027 – fixed term of 3–6 months

Modern sensor applications require intuitive and customizable user interfaces to visualize, configure and interact with sensor data. Recent advances in generative AI and large language models (LLMs) make it possible to generate user interfaces automatically from natural language descriptions, reducing development effort and accelerating prototyping. In this thesis, you will explore the design and implementation of an AI-powered development agent that generates production-ready user interfaces for sensor applications based on natural language prompts.

YOUR TASKS:

  • Design and implement an AI-assisted UI generation workflow, focusing on Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot
  • Develop frontend templates and mechanisms for generating UI components
  • Integrate LLM-based AI services and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools
  • Build proof-of-concept interfaces for sensor applications
  • Evaluate the generated user interfaces in terms of usability, maintainability and development efficiency
  • Document your findings and provide recommendations for future AI-driven development workflows

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Degree studies in computer science, software engineering or a comparable field
  • Experience in test-driven frontend development using technologies such as Angular, Vue.js and/or React
  • Experience with generative AI, AI agents and modern frontend frameworks
  • Knowledge of cloud-based AI services
  • Ability to develop and present concepts
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
